We recently had a visit from Ann S. Graham, the Executive Director of Texans for the Arts. Texans for the Arts (TFA) is a highly effective, non-partisan statewide arts advocacy organization that organizes advocacy efforts in order to protect and increase public and private funding for the arts at the state, national and local levels and provides coordinated information about legislative activity related to arts issues.
They selected Conroe as one of ten Texas cities where arts organization are using the HOT (Hotel Occupancy Tax) to fund their operations. Conroe is to be one of their Case Studies/Success Stories being presented to other cities. They toured the Gallery, the Crighton and the Owen and met with City Parks and Recreation and the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.
After the visit, Ann Graham asked for more information and details on the CAL story. She was impressed with the growth and the activities and are planning to feature some of what we have done in their case studies.
