SUMMER SPECIALS FOR TEENS, KIDS - AND ADULTS
The Conroe Art League has a new series of special summer offerings, including workshops and lessons for teens and children.
SATURDAY, JULY 15 AND SUNDAY, JULY 16 - “Intro to Oil Painting for Teens” provides a dynamic jump into oil painting for beginners. Taught by Debra Riley, gallery manager of The Madeley Fine Art Gallery, the class is designed for teens ages 15 to 18 and lasts from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All supplies are included. Classes size is limited to 10. Visit ConroeArtLeague.com to enroll. The instructor will explain how to use the supplies and demonstrate the fundamentals of oil painting, focusing on composition, color mixing and paint application. Participants will paint their own landscape or still life with individual guidance from the instructor.
MONDAY, JULY 17 - FRIDAY, JULY 21 - “Art around the World” is the fun theme of a summer camp for kids ages 7 through 14. The camp is directed by Rebekah Billings, an experience instructor for children’s art education. The camp will be held at CAL’s Madeley Fine Art Gallery from 10 a.m. to noon. SATURDAY, JULY 22 - “Introductory Approach to Gesture Sketching” with artist Ken Roy provides an instructive workshop to sharpen drawing skills, from an initial gesture to a sketch of the figure in 3 to 5 minutes, working with a live model. The class lasts from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is limited to 10 students. Enroll at ConroeArtLeague.com.
THURSDAYS THROUGH AUGUST - Continuing on Thursday through the summer, CAL will offer an introductory course in sculpting, “Let’s Play with Clay: Sculpting 101,” presented by accomplished sculptor and instructor Donna Rodgers. Students will be creating fruit, animals, and flowers, working up to a whimsical face relief. The class meets from 9 a.m. to Noon, and c\lass size is limited to 10.
COMING THIS FALL - Painting “Painterly” from A Photo with nationally acclaimed artist Dan Graziano. Registration is moving rapidly with enrollment half filled, so sign up soon.

A new benefit to our CAL members is the addition of Studio 127. Located on the second floor of the gallery, it will offer members the equipment and setup for photographing, or painting from life, still life arrangements. Studio 127 can be used by 2D and 3D artists that want to photograph their pieces. Reserve the studio for yourself, or for yourself and a member friend to work together. You can read about the program here and the registration information is included on the Take-in/Out page. Please be sure to register with Bob Heintzelman prior to end of June. The two sculptures are those of Bob Heintzelman’s sculpture “Red, Black, Silver” and Randall Cade’s sculpture “Flycycle”.

ARTIST IN ACTION - IN GALLERY |
To participate, artists must be a CAL member and provide all their own supplies/equipment and clean up when finished. Artists are expected to be working on their art in the gallery from 5:00 to 7:00 and may bring samples of their art for sale. All sales go through the CAL system with 20% going to CAL.

This free event is a great opportunity to get outside of the studio and experience natural lighting and great company. You must be an adult member of CAL to attend. The monthly painting series will occur at numerous locations around Montgomery and adjacent counties. Take-in for all art (including shelf art) will be Wednesday, July 5th (due to the holiday) from 11:00 to 4:00pm. Registration on-line is due not later than Monday, July 3rd, at 6:00pm. Debra Riley had a piece juried into the NOAPS International Show. The art selected was “Vintage Gucci”. 200 pieces were chosen from 1500 entries.

Winners of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 1HM, Best of Show, Best Landscape, Best Floral, and Best Student will be invited to participate in the LSAG 2024 Regional Show next summer. Artwork over 2 years old is not permitted. Previous LSAG winners are not eligible for future LSAG shows.

LSAG Regional Show is open to artists who qualified in certain previous art league shows, and a letter was sent out by LSAG to all these artists. If you are one of the winners and want to enter, click here. A tutorial is included on the link to help you if needed. |
