Participate, Share, and Celebrate the Arts

GALLERY HOURS

We are open Tuesday through Saturday

from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm.

New docent shift times are 11:00 - 1:30 and 1:30 - 4:00.

The gallery will be open for Thirsty Thursday on February 24th with gallery staying open until 7:00.

COME ON OVER!

TIME IS RUNNING OUT

The on-line auction has started with a roar and donations have already surpassed the 2021 show.  Bids will continue until 4:00pm CST on February 25th.  Place your bids to help us meet our goal of $7,500.  

The proceeds go to our Student Awards Show for Montgomery County High School Seniors scheduled for May 7th from 6:00-8:00PM.

There is no March take-in, as the CAL International accepted artworks will be on exhibit through the month.

ARTIST RECEPTION

The March reception will be Saturday the 5th, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm; which is when the CAL International will be displayed and awards in the amount of $5,500 will be announced.

FEBRUARY MINI-SHOWS

CAL will host two mini-shows during the 12X12 show this month.

The Houston Area Oil Painters show is being held on February 11th, 12th and 13th with a reception on Friday, the 11th from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.  The artists participating are Gary Hernandez, Kristine Schneider, Beau Crump, and Debra Riley.

Jennifer Claussen will exhibit her "Return From Nature" series on February 18th, 19th and 20th with a reception on Friday, the 18th from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.

Our members keep CAL looking great. Thank you to Rod McDougall for cleaning up and repainting our benches in the courtyard. Thank you to David Bartell for repairing a table for us. 

INVEST IN THE FUTURE

CAL continues to upgrade the gallery and classroom space.

We have added a new microwave to the classroom for those hungry artists on the go.

CAL INTERNATIONAL 2022

 Registration has closed with 558 entries from 29 states across the nation as well as entries from Japan, Indonesia and South Korea.  Finalists have been notified and over 60 artworks will hang in the gallery during the month of March.  Awards in the amount of $5,500 will be announced at the March reception.  Congratulations to all the finalists!

SPRING JUDGED SHOW 2022

 

Spring Judged Show is open on Cafe for  submissions through March 20th. Judge Doug Hiser's decisions will be announced on April 9 at the general meeting, and the  results will be posted on the  CAL website.

YOU BE THE JUDGE

We have a request for judges for the Fine Arts, Photography, Handicraft, Needlecraft, Homemaking, and Horticulture portion of the Montgomery County Livestock Show and Rodeo.
The 2022 show will be split into two days, Friday, March 25th, and Saturday, March 26th.  Judges for Preliminaries & Finals will be needed for both days.

GCAA ARTS Festival is Saturday, March 19th, 2022 – 10:00-5:00 At Founder’s Park and Downtown Conroe Hosted by Greater Conroe Arts Alliance.

The Greater Conroe Arts Alliance, made up of 18 Arts organizations in Montgomery County  Texas which represent the Performance and Visual Arts, is hosting its Annual Greater Conroe  Arts Festival on Saturday, March 19, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Located in Historic  Downtown Conroe, this outstanding family event features Local and Texas Artists  representing all genres of The Arts.
