CAL FALL 2024 SHOW

Dates to Remember:

Registration:  August 4-September 22, 2024

Judging: September 25-28, 2024

Awards: October 12, 2024

Venue: CaFe.  This is a virtual show.

COURTYARD SCULPTURE PROGRAM

The third quarter sculpture show begins in July. Each sculpture must be at least 24" tall, able to withstand outdoor weather, and not present a danger of any kind.  There is no fee but you must work one docent shift.  To propose a piece contact Bob Heintzelman at rdheintz@hotmail.com.  You can read about the program here and the registration information is included on the Take-in/Out page

The sculptures currently on display are:  Lotus by Robert Heintzelman (center), and Watchtower Series #1 (on left) & Watchtower Series #2 (on right) by Mark Frary.

ARTIST IN ACTION - IN GALLERY

 

To participate, artists must be a CAL member and provide all their own supplies/equipment and clean up when finished.  

Artists are expected to be working on their art in the gallery from 5:00 to 7:00 and may bring samples of their art for sale.  All sales go through the CAL system with 20% going to CAL. 

Artist In Action was recently held on June 7th. It was a well attended event. Artists participating were Tina Hobbs, Jennifer Vahlbrugh, Tetyano Aleksenko (sold art), Danielle Baxter, George Bramlett, and Valvenir Carpenter.

ARTIST IN ACTION - IN PLEIN AIR

 

On location painting sessions add a special, fresh quality to these paintings and the time spent painting outdoors is cherished by the AIA members who participate. There is always room anyone who would like to join us. 

The next outing will be on July 1st; the location has yet to be determined. Stayed tuned for updates.

JULY TAKE-IN/OUT

The next take-in for gallery floor and wall art will be Tuesday, July 2nd, between 11 am and 4 pm. Please be sure to register here by 6 pm on Monday the 1st.

Jewelry/Bins/Cards Take-In is Monday July 1st, from 11:00am to 2:00pm.   Deadline to register is 6:00pm on Sunday, June 30thPlease register for those only here.

ARTIST RECEPTION

The July reception will be at 6:00 pm Saturday the 6th,

and will be ending at 8:00 pm.

MEMBER HIGHLIGHTS

Debra Riley's “A Day At The Met” was selected for the NOAPS International On-Line Spring Show.  200 pieces were selected out of the 1200 submitted. This piece was also juried into OPA and purchased at their national convention.

 

LSAG Regional Show is open to artists who qualified in certain previous art league shows, and a letter was sent out by LSAG to all these artists. If you are one of the winners and want to enter, click here

 

Loraine Tomon will be in the Bloomin’ Crazy for Quilts show, June 21 and 22 at the Lone Start Convention Center in Conroe.

 

Juan Cantavella’s "Búcaro and Mandarines" has been juried into the NOAPS Best of America small works.

Katy Scheferman's "Ancient Chinese Tradition", "Memories" and "Calloway", and Judy Mackey's "White Jockeys" have works in the Oil Painters of America’s Online Spring Show.

 
 

Katy Scheferman has been accepted into two shows:

This Virtual Art Fluent International Show can be seen now on the www.art-fluent.com site.

 Her "Bad Habits" painting was chosen from 650 entries from 7 countries.

This Virtual National Show -"In The Abstract"- can be seen on the San Fernando Valley 

Arts & Cultural Center site www.sfvacc.org .

 Her "BreakAway" painting will be exhibited from June 1-June 30, 2024.

Belated congratulations to Bitsy Harris who had a solo show at the Mitte In Motion at the Mitte Cultural District in Brownsville, TX.

 
 

Zoe White's painting "Believe" was selected for the TRAHC's 39th Annual Juried Exhibition and will be on view from June 21 through August 10. Check it out if you are visiting Texarkana this Summer.

 

George Bramlett will have a solo show at The Woodlands Art Gallery and Studios in the month of July.

ARTISTS OPPORTUNITIES

 

The Woodlands Lions Club is excited to release the announcement of our Annual Wildflower Festival Art Contest.  This year's contest is being included as part of The Woodlands Township's 50th Anniversary Celebration.

They would be thrilled to have some of our amazingly talented members participate in this year's event.  As well, we would appreciate your help in simply spreading the word about this fantastic opportunity to even the littlest artists (toddler and youth contest categories too!).

RENT THE MADELEY FINE ART GALLERY FEATURE WALL

 

Adult members are able rent the Feature Wall in the gallery for a $100 fee and 2 docent shifts.  You can find the application on line here. How to show in the Gallery

CAL IS STUDIO OPEN

A new benefit to our CAL members is the addition of Studio 127.  Located on the second floor of the gallery, it will offer members the equipment and setup for photographing, or painting from life, still life arrangements. Studio 127 can be used by 2D and 3D artists that want to photograph their pieces. Reserve the studio for yourself, or for yourself and a member friend to work together.  Reserve your spot with Debra Riley at gallerymanager@conroeartleague.com.
