Come dive into the luminous world of metal leaf application in a hands-on workshop designed for artists of all levels! This immersive experience will guide you step by step through the process of incorporating metal leaf into a piece of artwork (that we will start at the workshop) elevating its depth, texture, and overall composition.

Dates: November 1 and 2

Times: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with one hour for lunch

Materials List:

• 2 gessoed cradled panels (1 - 8x8, 1 - 12 x 12 or larger)
• 2 small containers for cleaning brushes (4 oz.)
• Oil or acrylic paints of choice and brushes (to create artwork)
• 1 cheap craft round brush (size 2)
• 1 cheap craft flat brush (size 10 or similar)
• 1 small to medium size mop brush 
• 1 package 25 leaf metal (of choice) pack
• 1 X-acto type knife

All supplies can be obtained at Hobby Lobby or Michaels.

Jimmie Shealey is an oil painter who uses a fusion of leaf metals with figurative style paintings, creating a dramatic effect.  Beginning painting at the age of 15, Jimmie navigated as a self-taught artist.  His development has been shaped through years of trial and error, self-immersion, and the invaluable insights gained from attending workshops led by nationally recognized artists.  Today, Jimmie's paintings are exhibited in multiple galleries both nationally and internationally.  In addition, to his gallery presence, he actively participates in numerous art festivals throughout the year, traveling to various states.
