The Wearable Art and Home Décor “Trunk Show” took place in the gallery in August. It was a great success and brought in over $3,000 to the artists and the gallery. Congratulations entrepreneurs.

MONTHLY GENERAL MEETING
The next general meeting and reception will be held on Saturday, October 9th. It will be at 4:00 pm followed by an artist demonstration to be announced in the near future.
We do not expect to hold general meetings by zoom at this time.
|
|
|
|
The October reception will be held on Saturday, the 9th, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, after the general meeting.
|

Student Raffle
Be sure to get your tickets for the September raffle item. The winner will receive a custom made wreath donated by Glenna Bongirno.
Support Montgomery County high school seniors and the student art awards by making a donation to be included in the drawing. Purchase your tickets here.

|
Next take-in/take-out: Tuesday, October 5 from 10:30 to 4:00. Be sure to register online and sign up for your docent shift prior to dropping off your artwork (here). Please register online by Monday evening, October 4th.

This months Feature Wall Artist is Carol Scheferman. Please come by before October 5th to see her collection themed "Creative Expressions of Art"

|
The University of St. Thomas has closed the art competition themed "Hope".
Good luck to those that entered, Marla Loss, Carol Roach, Diane Williams, Julie Wright, Pam Markham, Gene LeRoy, Maryann Lucas, Paula Adams, Ed Gorman, Wendy Moreland, Anthony Walz, Carol Scheferman, Jill Targer, Florencia Castalado, and Julie Wright. The Winner will be announced on September 17th and a reception will be held for the three winning artists on October 7th at the USTMAX center in downtown Conroe.

James Miller was juried into the Bosque Art Classic for his painting "First Fall". It is now showing in Clifton, Texas. See more information about it here. MaryAnn Lucas painting "Tulip Garden" was among the 14% out of a record 721 artworks for the Visual Art Alliance 37th Juried Open Exhibition opening August 25, ending September 25, 2021.

NEWS FROM THE GREATER CONROE ARTS ALLIANCE
|
CAL is a member of the Greater Conroe Arts Alliance and has added this feature to the newsletter to keep you informed of upcoming events by the members of the GCAA. Members include: Christian Youth Theater, Conroe Art League, Conroe Live, Conroe Symphony Orchestra, Crighton Theatre Foundation, Friends of the Flag Foundation, Heritage Museum of Montgomery County, Indie Films Foundation, Jazz Connection, Montgomery Choral Society, Montgomery County Genealogical and Historical Society, Montgomery County Historical Commission, Montgomery County Literary Arts Council, Players Theatre Company, Stage Right, The Art of Music Studio, The Woodlands Show Chorus, and the Young Texas Artists Music Competition. Mark your calendar: Conroe Symphony Orchestra performance "Dancing To A Different Tune" on October 9th at 7:30pm at the Lake Creek High School in Montgomery. This concert is dedicated to the memory of the CSO organizer, Mary Curtis Taylor, who recently passed away. Rising Stars and Legends event on March 19, 2022. More details to follow.
