The call for entry has been posted on CAFÉ and is now accepting applications.  An email went out October 2nd to all our members. Please pass the word along.

In six years the CAL National has grown into one of the premier shows in Texas.  There were nearly 700 entries from 40 states in 2020. This year the CAL National is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts as a part of its Artistic Enrichment in American Communities (AEAC) program.

In a year of social distancing, join the celebrated way to make heartfelt connections with friends and loved ones this holiday season.  There is perhaps nothing more personal than a gift of art.  Come by the gallery Sunday, November 29th, and see artists at work from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. for Artists Sunday.

Conroe Art League has joined artists and organizations across the country for the first annual Artists Sunday, a nationwide event, the Sunday after Thanksgiving, November 29th.  Artists Sunday encourages consumers to shop with artists and craftspeople.  It is like Black Friday or Small Business Saturday but for shopping for art!

Artists Sunday is a nationwide movement dedicated to supporting artists and recognizing the impact they have in enriching our lives, communities, and the economy.  This powerful, new effort is designed to make the Sunday after Thanksgiving the most profitable day of the year for artists.  Artists Sunday launches with 775 artists and economic development organizations to create the largest art-shopping day of the year.

Reminder: Our next general meeting will be on the 28th, both in the gallery and on Zoom.

Spaces in the gallery will be limited due to COVID and registration will be required.  On-line registration and zoom link will be posted on our website soon.

SUPPORT LOCAL STUDENTS

CAL supports our young local artists by raising funds to help Montgomery County high school seniors further their art education.  Having our meetings through zoom have not changed that. Enter here!

The November drawing will be for a cheese plate, cheese servers, bottle of wine, and cute wine bottle scarf and hat.

The lucky winner will be announced at the November general meeting so enter by the 27th at 8 pm.

12 X 12 AUCTION

Reminder: start your 12" square panel for donation to the 2021 12 x 12 Fundraiser.  This event is our main fundraising project with all proceeds going to the High School Students Awards show in May 2021 and a great opportunity to get your art in front of the public.  Panels can be checked out now through the Docent at the gallery and will be turned in on January 4 and January 5.  The auction will be held on February 27th.

Panels can be turned in early to the docent on duty.  Please complete this form and attach it to your panel.

Decorated ornaments can be turned in to the docent at any time - the earlier the better.

These ornaments will be placed on a tree and may be purchased for $10 each as part of our efforts to raise money for the Student Art Awards show in 2021.

Now is the time to select your items to go into the annual Affordable Art sale held in December.  All items are to be priced at $125 or less.  You may hang three items in this sale with no hanging fees and only one docent shift required.  Your docent shift may be scheduled for February 2021.

If your piece sells you may replace it without working another docent shift.

Take-in for Affordable Art will be November 30th and December 1st along with the regular December take-in.  CAL's portion of all December sales is being donated to the Salvation Army's Angel Tree program.

December is a monthly members show with take-in on November 30th and December 1st.

Bring in your winter or Christmas themed art or any of your fabulous art.

The People's Choice Winner for October is Juan Cantavella's oil painting Pure Joy.

Vote through the month of November for both the People's Choice and the Banner award.  Preview the art by clicking here.  The winner will be announced at the December artists reception on Saturday, December 5th fro 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Featured Artists Wanted

There is a new page on our website highlighting our artists that use the photo album feature for showing their art on-line.  The general public will be able to see your art along with your bio and a description of each piece of art.   There is a link they can use to message you directly about purchasing the piece.  Purchases can be arranged directly between the member and the purchaser, or you can ask CAL to handle the transaction for you.  If you want CAL to process the transaction, sales tax will be included and a 20% donation will go to CAL.  If you handle the transaction directly with the purchaser, we suggest a donation to CAL for helping to make your art visible to the public.  For an example of current Featured Artists, click here.  If you need help setting up your albums, contact Martha at membership@conroeartleague.com.  For help with a sales transaction contact Debra at gallerymanager@conroeartleague.com.
