Gallery Update

The August Monthly Members Show is on display from 5 August through 29 August.

Come in to see the Banner Contest WinnerThe winning piece will be enlarged and hang in the courtyard during September, October and November.

Take-in and take-out for the September members show will occur on 31 August and 1 September.

DID YOU KNOW?:  Art hanging in the gallery needs to be on a wire hanger – sawtooth hangers are not suitable.  The best way to place a wire hanger on the back of your art is to position the wire to stop 2” from the top of the artwork when hanging.  This will help keep the art from leaning out from the wall and present the piece at its best.

The Fall Judged Show scheduled for 26 September is cancelled due to COVID 19.  See the website “Gallery Update” for more specifics.

Reminder: Our next general meeting to be held via Zoom

Saturday, August 22nd at 10 am

PRIVATE GALLERY SHOWINGS

AND FACETIME SHOPPING

Would you like to see the current exhibit in the gallery or do a bit of shopping without encountering large groups of people?

CAL is offering private showings for small groups before or after regular open hours.  The gallery will be sanitized before you arrive so your showing will be as safe as we know how to make it.

If a private showing is still too risky for you, how about some FaceTime shopping?  You can tell us what you are looking for and we can walk around and show you up close on your phone via FaceTime.  Please email gallerymanager@conroeartleague.com to schedule a private showing or FaceTime shopping.

Music to My Ears

CAL is partnering with the Conroe Symphony Orchestra

The league looks to hold small, intimate music performances to the gallery for you.

More to come...

Update your profile photo and show off your art

We want you see your mug.

As a member you can add a photo of yourself and upload images of your art into photo albums on your profile page of the CAL website and make it viewable to the public.  It's your own on-line gallery!

Please click here to add your photo(s).

Docent Coordinator Wanted

There is a need for a Docent Coordinator to coordinate training and scheduling of docents to keep the gallery doors open. The position may be assumed as either a Chair position on the board or as a non-board position as a team leader. Please contact Brenda McDougall (docentcoordinator@conroeartleauge.com); Debra Riley (vicepresident@conroeartleague.com) or Ken Roy (president@conroeartleague.com).

C.A.L. Brochures

You can be a part of getting our story out there as well. We have a supply of brochures at the Gallery. Grab a handful and ask if you can place them at your favorite restaurant, doctor’s office, hotels, stores or share it with your friends and families when they come to visit.

SPOTLIGHT ON C.A.L. MEMBERS

Many Thanks and Congratulations to

our generous and talented members.

People’s Choice winner is new member George Kapacinskas for his watercolor

“Squall Recovery”.

A message from the Artist

"Barbara and I were looking forward to retirement after 40 years in Texas and moving to our hometown in Illinois when Barbara was diagnosed with breast cancer and I experienced a turnover in management at my job, and we were not at all sure of our adjustment to the new lifestyle back home.  I had been wanting to do a painting of a sailboat but one thing after another kept delaying the piece.  When it was finally completed we couldn’t help but resist the analogy in the work of our recent trials.  So the boat’s number is our old house number, the port of registry is Houston, and the name of the craft is Perseverance.  The boat is returning to an upright position after recovering from a change in wind direction, hence the name "Squall Recovery"."
