Join us for an Open Studio on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from 9:30 am until 12:00 pm. All mediums welcome. No fee, just lot’s of art and good fellowship with other artists. Still Life Group is an open studio, no-instruction event. Once each month, Terri Harris facilitates an opportunity for artists to practice their art-from-life skills. All levels of skill are welcome, and any medium can be used.

The composition and lighting is a collaborative effort in which we all learn with and from each other. You are encouraged to bring items that can be added to the still life. One or two setups, depending on the number of attendees, are available so that all artists can have a good viewpoint.

Bus Trip to Sawyer Yards (May 09, 2026)

Join your fellow artists for a CAL sponsored bus trip to the Second Saturday at Sawyer Yards. Three minutes from downtown Houston, Sawyer Yards has been transforming into an internationally recognized community of art makers and art lovers for the past 20 years. Former warehouse spaces and industrial spaces now house hundreds of working artists, art galleries, loft offices, and creative businesses.

The bus will depart from CAL (127 Simonton) at 11:00am sharp. Please plan to be there by 10:30 so you can use the restroom, find parking, etc. Your ticket will include bus transportation to and from Sawyer Yards. You will be free to visit the galleries and have lunch on your own until 3:00pm at which time you will board the bus for your trip back to CAL.

This event is open to any CAL member and one guest. Space is limited to 26 people so don’t delay in reserving your spot. Cost is $36 per person. (No refunds but you may find someone to take your place)
